Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has opened up on the source of his musical inspiration.

According to the Afrobeats superstar, women are the driving force behind his creative process.

“Women inspire music! Gods on earth,” Wizkid shared in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter).

Wizkid, known for his soulful and romantic tracks, has consistently celebrated women through his music.

His latest album, Morayo, is a deeply personal project dedicated to his late mother, Morayo Jane Balogun.

The album has been a major success, setting new milestones on Spotify.

Morayo amassed 48 million streams within six days, surpassing the previous record of 46.4 million streams for an African album’s first week, held by South African artist Tyla.

Additionally, Morayo shattered another record for the biggest opening week for an African album on Spotify, with an impressive 52.8 million streams.

In other news, Nigerian singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid’s Morayo album, has taken over the top 17 spots on Apple Music.

The Star Boy released his highly anticipated album in the wee hours of Friday November 22, 2024, and barely 12 hours after its release, it has broken records.

A few hours after Morayo’s release, it reached the milestone on Apple Music.

Morayo album is a tribute to Wizkid’s late mother, Juliana Morayo Balogun, who died in August 2023.
