Politician and former spokesperson of the Labour Party presidential campaign, Doyin Okupe, has raised questions about the 67 minors arraigned at the FCT High Court for treason last week.
The minors were arrested during the End Bad Governance in Kano last August and have been in police custody since then. They were finally arraigned before the court last Friday on charges bothering on treason, They were accused of flying a Russian flag during the protest and also calling on the military to take over from the Tinubu-led administration.
The videos from the court showing some of the minors fainting sparked outrage on social media with many Nigerians slamming the government for arraigning the minors.
In a post shared on X, Doyin asked who the parents of the minors were and why they were not in court for the arraignment.
‘’THE MALNOURISHED, MALTREATED MINORS.. Another Perspective.
Thank God President Tinubu has instructed that the AGF intervenes.
One pertinent question that bothers me is this; WHERE ARE THEIR PARENTS? WHY WERE THEY NOT IN COURT?
Any system that allows this is a recipe for disaster.”
