2023 Women’s World Cup: Spain defeat England to win trophy

0

Spain have won the Women’s World Cup for the first time in their history, thanks to a 1-0 win over England in Sydney, Australia on Sunday.

Olga Carmona’s 29th minute goal proved to be decisive in the final.

It meant La Roja are crowned world champions at just their third World Cup.

They had won just one of their previous seven World Cup matches before this tournament. It is their sixth win in Australia and New Zealand sees them crowned world champions.

This comes after all the off-field issues, with the team in disarray just 10 months ago.
