A member of the seventh House of Representatives and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon Opeyemi Bamidele, has said that genuine reconciliation of all the factions within the Ekiti state chapter of the party would not only incapacitate the influence of Governor Ayo Fayose but would also return the state to the party come 2018 governorship poll.
The former federal lawmaker said this in Iyin Ekiti at the weekend during a unity meeting held by APC members in the two wards in the town.
Bamidele, in a statement by his media aide, Ahmed Salami yesterday, expressed confidence that with genuine reconciliation and unity in APC, that PDP, being led by governor Ayodele Fayose, can’t retain the state during the 2018 governorship poll.
Bamidele, said the crisis that engulfed the party, leading to his defection to Labour Party, where he contested against ex-Governor Kayode Fayemi in the June 21, 2014 governorship poll, was over, saying his reunion with the party was a natural thing that should not be a surprise to anybody.
He particularly praised his kinsman and former governor of the state, Niyi Adebayo, for his leadership role, promising that he would continue to rally support for his leadership in Ekiti APC, for the party to rise to reckoning in the coming elections.
